Situated
in trendy East Brunswick, GeloBar has become somewhat of a Melbourne icon
in its thirteen years of operation. Boasting not only exceptional home-made
Italian ice-cream, the people at GeloBar also allow their customers to
indulge in a wide variety of home-made cakes, chocolate, and coffee.
It's two proprietors,
Paula Campi and Sam Scullino, are both of Italian origin and were excited
at the concept of bringing their love of ice-cream-making to the Australian
public. Unlike other ice-creameries in Melbourne, Paula and Sam can
proudly say that their ice-cream is all natural, right down to the fresh
fruits used for their ice-creams and sorbets being of organic nature.
There are also no additives or preservatives. The varieties of ice-cream
available are almost limitless with over 200 flavours in circulation
and an available 36 at any one time.
Whether making ice-cream
or delicious cakes, GeloBar's proprietors believe the most important ingredient
is passion. This belief has led to very favourable reviews in Melbourne's
print-media such as The Age's "Epicure". It is of little surprise that GeloBar's ice-creams taste
so good, with ice-cream itself being of Italian origin. Some of their
more traditional recipes are as old as 45 years. Their particular style
of ice-cream dates back as far as the sixteenth century.
It can also be purchased in tubs which are sold by the kilo
for enjoyment at home. The store itself is open from 11a.m. until late
every day. Savory meals can also be ordered between 11 and 5 o'clock.
